Wolf-baiting is still a common practice in much of the world. Usually fatal for the wolf, and highly dangerous for the other animals involved (often dogs), the blood-sport is considered culturally significant in some regions - but unquestionably inhumane.
Organizations like the WSPA work to end ‘baiting’ sports, like bear baiting and wolf baiting world-wide. Their campaigns in Pakistan have worked to provide sanctuary for former bait animals, find alternate means of livelihood for bait animal owners, and work with local governments and mosques against the practice.
